At Prospect Latin School, we're boosting preschoolers' brainpower in math and literacy with an innovative academic enrichment program in piano and the language of Latin. And now, our overall curriculum has been shown to move more preschoolers into the 75th percentile ("above average") score in the Test for Early Math (TEMA) and the NEPSY Early Literacy Test in a study conducted by the University of Louisville's Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences Department .
The Piano Math Keys® Program works to boost math and science skills in preschoolers through the taking of weekly piano and music lessons. In the curriculum, students in our Preschool and Prekindergarten discover the joys of music, as brain neurons connect to form the types of reasoning skills needed for success in such subjects as calculus & physics.
The Latin Locomotive® Program builds preschoolers' emerging English literacy skills through an adventuresome ride with the mother of all romance languages, Latin. Through games, stories, and activities, children experience the interconnectedness of ideas that relate words together rather than just word or letter memorization – and begin to build a mental framework with the building blocks of English.
